According to the ancient Hindu tradition and belief, of the Hindu Trinities – Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara, Lord Shiva is the most powerful deity and is considered as the god of gods. Lord Shiva is the easiest to access among the gods & the easiest to forgive too. In eternal union with Shakti, he is regarded as the creator. While in some manifestations, like the one as Mahakala, he is the god of death and also the destroyer. The entire Hindu Vedic tantra seems to have originated from Lord Shiva. To attain various siddhis and objectives, he gave 64 yantras and their mantras to the world. As Nataraja, he is the presiding deity of dance and music. He is also the male force in the Kundalini. Hanumana and Bhairava are two of his famous avataras. His consort and goddess Parvati is the feminine mother force of the universe. His son Ganesha, also a deity, is the remover of all obstacles and the ruler of all Vidyas. The two most holy rivers of India – Ganga and Narmada are associated with him.
